In 2026, the Utility Company “Kremenchukvodokanal” received important humanitarian aid from its international partners—UNICEF Ukraine and the German company GELSENWASSER.

The materials, equipment, shut-off valves, and reagents received are essential resources for ensuring the reliable operation of the city’s water supply and wastewater systems, especially under martial law and when critical infrastructure is under significant strain.

Support from UNICEF Ukraine

As part of humanitarian aid from UNICEF Ukraine, the company received a significant amount of equipment and materials that that are used daily by emergency and repair teams during scheduled maintenance, the replacement of worn-out sections of networks, and the response to emergency situations.

The assistance included:

• shut-off and control valves—wedge gate valves and knife gate valves, flanged ball check valves;

• pipes for network rehabilitation—polyethylene pipes of various diameters and corrugated wastewater pipes with seals;

• connecting elements — universal flange adapters and couplings;

• welding equipment — a modern welding machine with the necessary accessories;

• additional materials and components for the installation and repair of pipelines.

This equipment enables the company to carry out repair work more efficiently, replace faulty and worn-out network components, and maintain them in proper working order.

Support from GELSENWASSER

Another important area of international support was the provision of 5,000 kg of powdered activated carbon by the German company GELSENWASSER.

This reagent is particularly important for Kremenchuk. The city’s water supply source is the Kremenchuk Reservoir, whose condition continues to deteriorate year by year, creating additional challenges for the water treatment process. Changes in the quality of raw water increase the need for appropriate treatment reagents.

Powdered activated carbon is an important component of water treatment processes. It is used to remove organic compounds, substances that can affect the smell and taste of water, and other undesirable impurities.

Therefore, the 5 tonnes of activated carbon received are an important resource for ensuring the stable operation of the Utility Company “Kremenchukvodokanal” and the production of high-quality drinking water for the residents of Kremenchuk.

For Utility Company “Kremenchukvodokanal”, the assistance provided by international partners means an opportunity to respond more quickly to emergencies, upgrade worn-out sections of the networks, and ensure the necessary water treatment processes.
